Description	:	Mary was the daughter of John and Susanna (Moyer) Huddleston. She would marry 3 times, her first husband Samuel H. Doran who was born Oct.15, 1827 in Virginia. They were married January 28 1849 in Wayne County, IN. They were the parents of Henry Clinton, Mary Josphine, Sarah Elizabeth, and John Monroe. Samuel died June 9, 1856. Next she married Isaac N. Ware September 30, 1858 in Wayne County, IN. They had two sons James M and John A., both dieing young. Isaac died June 5, 1878. Aug. 22- Mrs. Harrison Cook died at her home, just north of town, Monday afternoon, aged sixty. She was a daughter of John Huddleston, long since deceased. 'The Indianapolis Journal'. (Indianapolis, Ind.) August 23, 1894, page 2. -------------- Aged 63 y. 7 m. 20d. Wife of I.N. Ware. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Mary Ann Huddleston, daughter of John Huddleston and Susannah Moyer/Huddleston, married Samuel H. Doran on January 28, 1849 in Wayne Co. Indiana. ~~~~~ "Samuel H Doran to Mary A Huddleston BE IT REMEMBERED, That on this 24 day of Jan 1849, the following marriage license was issued, to-wit: INDIANA, TO-WIT: Wayne County, SS. To all who shall see these Presents, Greeting: Know ye, that any person legally authorized to solemnize matrimony is hereby licensed to join in marriage as husband and wife Samuel H Doran and Mary A. Huddleston and for so doing this shall be his sufficient authority. Witness, Thomas G Noble Clerk of the Wayne Circuit, this 24 day of Jan 1849. (signed) Thomas G. Noble, clk Be it Further Remembered, That on this 26 day of Febry 1849, the following certificate was filed in my office, to-wit: Indiana, to-wit: Wayne County: This certifies that I joined in marriage as husband and wife Samuel H. Attest (signed) Thomas G Noble, clk" ~~~~~ They had 2 daughters, Mary Josephine born March 13, 1851 and Sarah Elizabeth Doran, born May 24, 1853. They also had 2 sons, Henry Clinton 1849-1851, and John Monroe 1855-1856. Barely a month before the birth of Josephine, young Henry died. Husband, Samuel, died June 9, 1856 in Wayne County, Indiana, and only 3 months later, son John died. Two years later, on September 30, 1858 in Wayne County, widow, Mary Ann, marries widower, Isaac Newton Ware, a farmer whose wife, Hannah Groenendyke/Ware had also died in 1856 in Wayne County. They were married by W.B. Witt,-'Minister of the Gospel', as recorded below. ~~~~~ "Isaac N. Ware to Mary A Doran Be it Remembered, That on this 29th day of Sept, 1858, the following Marriage License was issued, to-wit: INDIANA, TO-WIT: WAYNE COUNTY, SS. TO ALL WHO SHALL SEE THESE PRESENTS, GREETING: Know ye, that any person empowered by law to solemnize marriages, is hereby authorized to join together as Husband and Wife, Isaac N Ware, and Mary A Doran, and for so doing, this shall be his sufficient authority. In Testimony Whereof, I Andrew F Scott, Clerk of the Wayne Circuit Court, hereunto subscribe my name, and affix the Seal of said Court, at Centreville, this 29th day of Sept, 1858. (signed) Andrew F. Scott Be it further remembered, That on this 14th day of October, 1858, the following certificate was filed in my office, to-wit: INDIANA, TO-WIT: WAYNE COUNTY. This certifies, that I joined in marriage as husband and wife, Isaac N. Ware and Mary A. Doran, on the thirtieth day of September, 1858. (signed) W. B. Witt, M.G." ~~~~~ Living with Isaac, was his daughter and 3 sons, from his marriage to Hannah; Mary Jane, William Montgomery, John Addison, and James Monroe Ware. The now combined families of Isaac and Mary Ann, lived on Isaac's farm. Isaac and Mary Ann, did not have any children from their marriage together. --- There are 'three' marriages, between this Huddleston family, and this Ware family. #-1. Mary Ann, a widow, marries Isaac Newton Ware, a widower. #-2. Mary Ann's sister, Phebe Ellen Huddleston, marries David Groenendyke, the brother-in-law of Isaac Ware. #-3. Later on, Isaac's son, John Addison Ware, marries Mary Ann's niece, Mary Alice Huddleston, the daughter of Henry Huddleston. (Many researchers have mixed up the two different women, as they are both listed on many documents as "Mary A. Ware", or "Mary A. Huddleston") --- During the War, Isaac's son, William, had left the farm at barely 15 years of age, to join the 7th Indiana Cavalry. He was captured 6 months later and sent to Andersonville, and then to Florence Stockade. On the 'U.S. Civil War Draft Registration Records'--'Ware, Isaac N.' registers and is listed under 'Jackson Township, Wayne County, Indiana' June 1863, and is listed as '36' years old, a 'Farmer', and born in 'Virginia'. Because he is older than 35, just barely, and being married, Isaac is not subject to military duty. Class I - men 20-35 years old, subject to military duty and unmarried men 36-44 subject to military duty. Class II - married men 36-44 years old. Class III - volunteers. ----------------- Many of their neighbors in Wayne County were being wounded, killed, or captured, while fighting in the War. -- The below Directory, came out toward the end of the War. It lists the families of Wayne County, also, their sons, brothers, or husbands, that are in the War, and what has happened to the soldier; wounded or killed, in what battles, his military Regiment, rank, etc. The below entry is for Isaac Ware's son, William, the step-son of Mary Ann. 'Directory and Soldiers Register of Wayne county, Indiana' 1865. $5.00 W.H. Lanthurn & Co., Publishers Richmond, Ind. "Ware, William enlisted in co M, 7th Reg.Ind Vol Cav; was captured in the battle of Okolona, and confined for some time in Andersonville prison, was paroled, afterward exchanged, and is still in the service, July 1865. Son of Isaac N. Ware, Jackson tp." -- from the same 1865 'Directory and Soldiers Register of Wayne County, Indiana' "Ware, Isaac N. far w s pike 1/2 mile n Dublin, Jackson tp." - (the above 'far' is referring to 'a farmer' located just north of the town of Dublin, in Jackson Township) ------------------ William survived the War, to return briefly to his father's farm, with his step-mother Mary Ann and her 2 daughters still at home. Isaac's daughter, Mary Jane Ware, had married John Archibald McCullough. Later on, Isaac and Mary Ann were raising their granddaughter Mabel Ware; the daughter of Sarah Doran and William Ware. Mary Ann's daughter, Josephine Doran, marries Alvarenis Needham. In 1871, Mary Ann's daughter, Sarah Doran, marries Francis Hayes. On March 23, 1871, Isaac's son, James Monroe Ware, marries Sarah P. Reynolds in Wayne County. They have a daughter and son, then James dies March 22, 1880, not long before his brother, John dies in December 1881. James' widow, Sarah Ware, remarries on January 23, 1881, the widower James Franklin Reynolds , in Hancock Co., Indiana. In 1875, Isaac's son, John Addison Ware, marries the niece of his step-mother, Mary Ann. Her name is Mary Alice Huddleston, the daughter of Mary Ann's brother, Henry Huddleston. They have 3 daughters together, before John dies in 1881 of tuberculosis, in Wayne County. ( see John's 1875 marriage proposal-love letter on his memorial page) Isaac then died in 1878 leaving Mary Ann and Mabel living on the farm; also there, is Isaac's nephew, G.W. Ware (George Wesley Ware). -- In the 'Cambridge City Tribune' Thursday, January 4, 1882. "About fifty relatives and friends of Mary Ware, got up a handsome birthday surprise on her, New Years day, and her daughter Josie Needham, made her a present of a set of dishes. All had a good time and an excellent dinner." (Mary's birth was on New Years Eve, December 31, 1830. She was now 51 years old, at this party.) -------- In the 'Cambridge City tribune' August 16, 1883 "DUBLIN ITEMS" "Mrs. Ware, living on the New Castle pike, just north of town, while carrying a bucket of milk and some crocks into the cellar, fell from the steps, and broke her left arm near the wrist, which will disable her for some time." --------- Widow, Mary Ann, then married the widower, Harrison Cook in 1884, after his wife had died in 1883. ----- In the 'Cambridge City Tribune' March 20, 1884 "DUBLIN ITEMS" "Harrison Cook and Mrs. Mary Ann Ware, were married, on Sunday evening last, at the bride's home, just north of town, on the New Castle pike, by Rev. Ober. There were but few of the near relatives present, the wedding being a very quiet one. Mr. C. will now occupy his time and attention to his new home, as they intend living on the place occupied by Mrs. W. for a number of years. They have the best wishes of their many friends for the remainder of their days." --------------- H.Cook's farm was located very close to the Isaac N. Ware farm on the '1875 Land Ownership Map of Jackson Township', available online. *This map also shows John Huddleston's land, Mary Ann's father's, which is very close to Isaac Ware's farm. Everyone's farm, was in very close proximity of each other, the families all knew each other, and many, or most, are related to each other somehow, through marriages. Harrison Cook died in 1892; then Mary Ann in 1894. Apparently, Mary Ann's current-3rd husband, Harrison Cook, was buried next to his long-term, first wife, Margaret Cook, who was the mother of all his children.
