The body of Mrs. Mary Porter, formerly Mary Hyndman, and who was reared in the Cumberland neighborhood, will reach Atlantic [Cass County, Iowa], from Denver at 5:35 this evening. Mrs. Porter's death occurred at Denver on Wednesday last. . Mrs. Porter lived in Denver with her mother, Mrs. Jane Hyndman. A brother, Will Hyndman, lives near Cumberland. A sister, now deceased, was formerly an employee of the "News Telegraph." The father was Alexander Hyndman. He has been dead for some time. . To date, most information that is known about Mary Ann Hyndman / Hydman comes from census data; her father's will & the settlement of his estate; Mary Ann's obituary; and, a reference to her on page 2 of the "PORTER GENEALOGY," where Mary Ann is listed as the first wife of John Finley Porter, with thier marriage taking place on March 13, 1890. Their daughter, "Agnes Elizabeth Porter" (later known as Beth Mae Porter), was born January 12, 1891, near Reno, Cass County, Iowa. Beth Mae Porter married James Day. Hyndman, 3; and, Lizzie Hyndman. • 1880 UNITED STATES FEDERAL CENSUS: Bear Grove Township, Cass County, Iowa. Mary Ann continues to reside with her parents and siblings. Their family members are listed as: Alexander Heynisnond [Hyndman], age 42. Wife, Jane, 40. Children: Mary A., age 16; George A., age 13; William J., age 9; Agnes M., 7; and, Salona B., age 3. According to the "PORTER GENEALOGY," John and Mary Ann became the parents of at least one known child, a daughter, named "Agnes Elizabeth Porter," who was born January 12, 1891, in Reno, Cass County, Iowa. Beth (Porter) Day and her husband, James Day, spent the majority of their married life together in Winslow, Navajo County, Arizona. .
