Meyer Funeral Services were conducted Tuesday at the St. Ludger's Catholic Church in Creighton for Mrs. John Meyer, 72, who passed away Saturday, November 12, at the Creighton hospital. Mrs. Meyer was seriously burned Monday, October 31, when she was preparing supper, and grease in a skillet caught fire and ignited her clothing. Mary Ann, daughter of Leo and Josephine Kessler, was born Arpil 9, 1888 at Wisner. She was married to John A. Meyer on February 1, 1910 at Randolph. The Meyers had lived in the Creighton community for 30 years. They farmed before retiring and moving to town in 1949. They observed their 50th wedding anniversary in February of this year. She is survived by her widower, John A; three daughters, Mrs. Caroline Ebell of Baker, Oregon, Mrs. Rose Gere of Toledo Ohio, and Mrs. Florence Smith of Ogallala, four sons, Albert of Creighton, Leonard of Appleton Minn., William of Sioux City, and Charles of Norfolk, one brother, Joseph Kessler of Randolph; and four sisters, Mrs. Ann Thelen of Osmond, Sister M. Suso, O.S.F., of Chicago; Mrs. Emma Hardin of Omaha, and Mrs. Catherine Farrell of Los Angeles. Among those attending the services were Mr. and Mrs. Ben Meyer, Mr. and Mrs. Tony Thelen, Mr. and Mrs. George Thelen, Mr. and Mrs. John Becker, Mr. and Mrs. Schlichting, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Kessler, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Kavanaugh, Joe Kessler and Mrs. Pearl Kessler all of Randolph, Gene Kessler of Humphrey, Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Schutt of Wayne and Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Heger of Coleridge. Creighton Woman, 72, Dies of Burns Creighton - Mrs. John Meyers, 72, Creighton, died Saturday evening in Lindberg Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient since Oct. 31., She was burned over two-thirds of her body when the meat she was frying caught fire and ignited her clothing. Mr. Meyers was badly burned on his left hand in extinguishing the fire. He had broken his right arm two weeks before. She is survived by her husband and seven children. Four sons, Albert, Creighton; Charles, Norfolk, Wilfred, Sioux City, Iowa, and Leonard of Minnesota; three daughters, Caroline Ebell of Oregon, Rose Gere of Ohio and Florence Smith of Ogallala. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 10:a.m. at St. Ludger's Catholic Church. The rosary will be said at the Hengstlars Chapel Monday at 8 a.m.
