Description	:	Mrs. George Mogel, eighty years, two months, and eleven days of age, after an illness [influenza] of three weeks, departed this life at 7:30 p.m. January 27, 1933, at the Mogel farm near Hillsboro where she lived the past thirty years. Mary Ann Wright, daughter of David and Mary (Metzger) Wright was born in West Point, Iowa, November 16, 1852. Mary Ann Wright, daughter of David and Mary (Metzger) Wright was born in West Point, Iowa, November 16, 1852. Here she grew to womanhood and early in life was affiliated with the Presbyterian Church, remaining a faithful member to the end. She was married to George W. Mogel on December 14, 1871, in West Point. To this union ten children were born. She was a faithful, devoted and loving mother and in later years was known as Grandmother. One daughter, Maude F. Berryhill preceded her in death in 1916, and the husband and companion for sixty-one years passed away just one week ago. Those left to mourn their loss are the following children: Albert Charles Mogel, Keosauqua; Mrs. W.T. Wilmeth, Salem; Mrs. R.V. Graves, Fullerton, California; Mrs. Rowland Davidson, Donnellson; Mrs. Roy Halliwill, La Crew; Mrs. Earl Stringer, Salem; Mrs. Frank Moyle, Mt. Pleasant; Melvina and Earl, at home. One brother, Andrew J. Wright, of Hillsboro and eleven grandchildren survive, besides other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. at the undertakers parlors in Hillsboro and were conducted by Rev. C.E. Strong, pastor of the Hillsboro Baptist Church, following which interment was made in the South Cemetery at Salem. -- Salem Weekly News, February 2, 1933, page 1.
