Description	:	Mary Anne, daughter of Philip and Mary Gushwa, was born in Holmes County, Ohio, October 26, 1838. She was one of a family of ten children. In 1861 she was united in marriage to David Libey, and to this union were born five children. In February, 1915, her husband passed away, and for some years she lived alone. About nine years ago her health did not permit her to live alone longer and she went to Battle Creek, Mich., where kind hands ministered to her during her remaining years. In 1893, she with her husband united with the... Read More	Mary Anne, daughter of Philip and Mary Gushwa, was born in Holmes County, Ohio, October 26, 1838. She was one of a family of ten children. In 1861 she was united in marriage to David Libey, and to this union were born five children. In February, 1915, her husband passed away, and for some years she lived alone. About nine years ago her health did not permit her to live alone longer and she went to Battle Creek, Mich., where kind hands ministered to her during her remaining years. In 1893, she with her husband united with the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church, where she remained faithful and true to the faith. She is survived by one son, Leroy of South Bend and one daughter, Mrs. W. H. Willis where she passed away, eleven grandchildren, six great-grand-children and one great-great-grand-child and several nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Sylvester and Elza, and one daughter, Mrs. Jenettie Miltenberger. Mother Libey had been confined to her bed for more than six ears. She bore her cross with cheerful Christian fortitude. There were no words of complaint to those about her, other than she was so tired. With the Savior to comfort her tired and worn body she waited the summons to Eternal home and rest. Death came to her while sleeping, July 5, 1935, at the advanced age of 96 years, 8 months and 9 days. When God gave his most priceless creation it was "Mother." She was to love and be loved. Our foot-steps were guided by her loving hands when we were unable to guide them ourselves. If misfortune came to us we were sure of her sympathy, her tears mingled with ours in sorrow. We were always sure of her as our best friend. The years passed and her foot-step grew weary, and when the sun-set of life drew near, she needed our help to steady her tired, worn body, soothe with careful hands her aged brow. Then when the gates swing open to admit her to her last reward, and we have done our part, in loving memory we will say "farewell" and know that the home she so patiently waited for is hers at last. The body was removed Saturday from Battle Creek to the Yoder Funeral home in Wakarusa from which funeral services were held Sunday at 1:45 p.m. with further services at 2 o'clock in the Mennonite Brethren in Christ church in Wakarusa. Rev. A. B. Yoder, Goshen, and Rev. W. H. Moore, Wakarusa, officiated, with burial in Olive cemetery. Mrs. Libey has been a subscriber for many years.
