McGorkle, Interment in the Shafer cemetery. Mary Ann Stephens daugther of Jacob and Susanna Yost Stephens was born on the 15th day of March in Schuylkill C. Pa. and died at her home in Idaville July 29 , 1900, aged 76 years, 4 months and 14 days. At ten years of age she came with her parents to Wayne County, Indiana where on October 29 , 1846 she was united in marriage with George Shafer. At a few years residence in Wayn and Hamilton Counties, Mr and Mrs Shafer came to White County in 1859, to this union was born 7 daugthers and one son. Her Husband departed this life 27 years ago and two daugthers have gone before their mother to thier long home. Two brothers, two sisters, five daugthers and her son, 41 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren with a large circle of friends survive her and mourn her death. She was Baptized when but a babe. Early in life, she took up the service of the Master and was a faithful Christean so long as she lived, being a member of the church of God at her death.
