Mrs. Mailander was 81 years of age and had been in poor health for four years. Rosary rites were held Sunday evening at St. Patrick's Catholic Church and services were conducted at the church Monday morning, December 2, with Rev. John Walsh officiating. MAILANDER SUCCUMBS; RITES MONDAY MORNING Mrs. Mary Augusta Mailander, a resident of Phillips County since 1917, passed away at the East Phillips County Hospital here on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, November 28. Mrs. Mailander was 81 years of age and had been in poor health for four years. The Lewis Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. Interment was at Holyoke Memorial Park. Mary Agusta Ehrman, daughter of Fred and Anna Richter Ehrman, was born January 30, 1882, at Anita, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Henry Mailander at Wiota, Iowa, on June 12, 1901. They resided at Wiota and Atlantic, Iowa, until 1917 and then moved to Colorado. They resided on a farm south of Paoli until 1928, when they moved to Holyoke. Mrs. Mailander was a lifelong member of the Catholic church. She was active in the Altar and Rosary society and other church work as long as her health permitted. Preceding her in death were her husband, Henry; two sons, Fred, and another son who died in infancy; her parents; and one brother. Surviving Mrs. Mailander are one daughter, Mrs. Helen Lou DeVore, of Wood River, Nebraska, one son, Leo Raymond Mailander, Holyoke; 10 grandchildren, Helen Lou (Mrs. Marvin) James, Holyoke, Richard DeVore and Mrs. Darlene McLey, Wood River, Nebraska, Mrs. Beverly Becker, Grand Island, Nebraska, and James, Robert, Joan, Paul, Michael and Leo Francis Mailander, all of Holyoke; 13 great grandchildren; one brother, Fred Ehrman, Anita, Iowa; three sisters, Mrs. Ann McConnell, Haxtun, and Elizabeth and Susan Ehrman, Wiota, Iowa; and many other relatives and friends.
