Description	:	Mrs. Mary Hines Mary (Avery, Stevens) Hines, 83, of 228 West Second Street, died Wednesday, April 17, at her home in Miller. Funeral services were held Saturday, April 20, at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Richard Rinearson officiating. Organist was Janet Fritzsche and a duet was sung by Anita Fremark and Lori Fremark. Burial was in the G.A.R. Cemetery, Miller. Mary Avery was born May 16, 1907, at Hitchcock, the daughter of William and Bessie (Hart) Avery. She received her early education at Hitchcock schools and graduated from Miller High School. She taught in rural Hand County schools for several years. On March 23, 1929, she married Clate E. Stevens in Miller. He died on November 22, 1956, after which she lived for several years with her daughter, Mr. Don (Mildred) Carl. On July 12, 1969, she married Sanford Hines in Miller and they moved to Miller in 1970. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, Sanford Hines, of Miller; two sons, Gene Stevens of Miller and Dale Stevens of Belvidere, IL; two daughters, Mrs. Don(Mildred) Carl of Des Plaines, IL, and Mrs. Jackie (Norene) Struse of Loves Park, IL. She is also survived by three step-daughters, Mrs. Millerd (Doris) Rediger of Miller, Mrs. Maurice (Maizie) Rediger of Albany, OR, and Mrs. Wayne (Helen) Fawcett of Miller; one stepson, Dr. Tom Hines of Carson City, NV; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; a host of step-grandchildren; a host of step-grandchildren; and one brother, Art Avery of Walbach, NE. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Clate Stevens; two daughters, Louise and Dorothy Ann; her parents; two daughters, Louise and Dorothy Ann (sic); two sisters, Elizabeth and Edith; and one brother, John Avery.
