She was born August 31, 1946 in Conway, SC, a daughter of the late Thurman Albert and Eva Johnson Baker. She was born August 31, 1946 in Conway, SC, a daughter of the late Thurman Albert and Eva Johnson Baker. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by five siblings, Billy Baker, Jimmy Baker, Robert Baker, Johnny Baker and Lillie Mae Baker; two sisters-in-law, Carolyn J. Daniels and Hilda J. Johnson; and four brothers-in-law, Eston Hucks, Wayne Phillips, Winfred Daniels, and Grant Johnson. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, McKeaver James, Jr.; two daughters, Sharon J. Brown (WJ) and June J. Causey (Steve) of Conway; a son, Kevin James (Donna) of Conway; six grandchildren, Matthew Brown, Joshua Brown, Brooks Causey (Leslie), Spencer Causey, Beverly James and Mac James; two great grandchildren, Talan M. Brown and Stevie Blair Causey; two sisters, Wassell Hucks and Eva Mae Williamson (Dawson) of Conway; two brothers, LeRoy Baker (Leona) of Burlington, NC and Joseph Baker (Carolyn) of Conway; and four sisters-in-law, Marie Baker, Donna Baker, Rae Baker and Saundra Phillips of Murrells Inlet. Mary was a Godly woman and an active member of Juniper Bay Baptist Church where she was saved as a young adult and served her Lord faithfully from that day on. She served on several committees in her church, including serving as Senior Adult Leader and was also named "Woman of the Year" in the 80's. She truly had a servant's heart and she found the most joy when taking care of everyone else. She was the happiest when she was cooking and taking care of her family. She was such a loving and caring wife, mother, and grandmother and will be dearly missed. The family would like to extend a special thank you to her caregiver, Brenda Garrett.
