JAMES STUBBLEFIELD, EARLY DAY RESIDENT OF TIPTON, DIES IN SOUTH Mrs. James Stubblefield, well known and esteemed resident of Tipton a number of years ago, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. O. Linton, at Birmingham, Alabama, on Friday, March 3rd. The host of old home friends here are grieved at the news of passing of one very active and dearly beloved during the years when Tipton was her home. The body was accompanied to Tipton, arriving here Monday, and brief service conducted at the Masonic cemetery where interment was made in the family lot. Mary Barbara Stubblefield was born in Lycoming county, Pa., Nov. 4th, 1852, the only child of Barbara Noll Breidinger and Leonard Breidinger. Her mother died when she was four months old, and she spent the early years of her childhood in the home of her parental grandparents. In her late girlhood she came to Iowa and lived with her maternal grandparents in Inland, Iowa, where she lived until her marriage in 1877 to James William Stubblefield. Her married life was spent in Tipton and vicinity. After her husband's death in 1905 she moved to Cedar Rapids, Ia., at which place she lived until 1915, going then to make her home in the city of Davenport. Her last years have been spent with her daughter and son, Mr. and Mrs. J. O. Linton, in Birmingham, Ala. During the last seven years she has been in failing health, being unable to speak a word for the last two years. Her death occurred March 3, in Birmingham. For the most of her lifetime she has been an ardent worker in the Presbyterian church, of which she is a member, and was always interested in the finer things of life. She leaves surviving two daughters, Mrs. J. O. Linton, of Birmingham, Alabama, Mrs. L. R. Tucker, of Orlando, Florida, and one granddaughter, Mary Lynne Linton.
