Description	:	Mary B. Stokes, daughter of Geo. Coddington, was born near Powersville, Mo. Dec. 30, 1875 and died at Salina, Kansas, May 31, 1922, aged 46 years and 5 months. She was married to Gilbert Shearer and to this union two children were born. After the death of Mr. Shearer, she married to M.B. Stokes, April 29, 1900. To this union five children were born of whom all are living and were present at the funeral save two, V.T. and Glenna Reinerson. Dec. 30, 1875 and died at Salina, Kansas, May 31, 1922, aged 46 years and 5 months. She was married to Gilbert Shearer and to this union two children were born. After the death of Mr. Shearer, she married to M.B. Stokes, April 29, 1900. To this union five children were born of whom all are living and were present at the funeral save two, V.T. and Glenna Reinerson. Mrs. Stokes was converted and united with the Methodist Church when a girl and lived in the faith until her death. She leaves to mourn her loss seven children, five brothers and five sisters besides many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were held at Edmond Cemetery where she was buried, conducted by Rev. C.H. Murphy of Powersville. (The Palco News, June 16, 1922) Please note that the birth date is given Dec. 30th and I believe this is wrong. Her actual birth date is either Dec. 31, 1875 or Jan. 1, 1876. Family story says that mother's two sisters helped in the delivery and she was born on Dec. 31th, but the father who was not present at the birth and arrived home after midnight claims her birthday as Jan. 1.
