Clay Edward Hensley, age 73, a retired brick mason, passed away early Monday morning, September 16, 2013, at U.T. Medical Center in Knoxville. Mary Belle Hensley, age 73, a homemaker, passed away Saturday evening, September 14, 2013, at Laughlin Memorial Hospital. Mr. and Mrs. Hensley attended Horse Creek Mission Church. Mr. Hensley was a veteran of the U.S. Army. Survivors include their son and daughter-in-law: Rocky and Lisa Hensley; daughter and son-in-law: Katrina and George Roberts; one grandson and two granddaughters: Dustin Holt, Amanda and Jessica Hensley; one great-grandson: Parker Powell. Mr. Hensley is survived by two sisters and brothers-in-law: Betty and Grover Gunter and Marie and Kenneth Blake; one brother and sister-in-law: Richard and Rosalee Bishop and several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Hensley is also survived by one sister: Sophie Copp and several nieces and nephews. Mr. and Mrs. Hensley were preceded in death by a son: Lawrence Edward Hensley. Clay was a son of the late Fransco and Ella Hensley and was preceded in death by several brothers and sisters. Mary Belle was a daughter of the late Lawrence and Oleta Bishop. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday at Horse Creek Mission Church. The Rev. Kenneth Bowens and the Rev. Lowell Bowens will officiate. Interment will follow in Gethsemane Cemetery. The bodies will be taken to the church to lie in state thirty minutes before the service. The Greene County Honor Guard and the Tennessee National Guard will conduct a military graveside service. The family will receive friends from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8 p. m. on Thursday at Doughty-Stevens Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be family and friends of the church.
