Mrs. Mary Benjamin Longren, daughter of Richard and Sarah Benjamin, was born at Des Moines April 2, 1871, and came with her parents to a farm south of Newton when a small child. She was married to Enoch Longren at Newton Oct. 2, 1899, and two this union six children were born, all of whom survive. The couple began housekeeping on a farm south of Newton and then moved to Seever, Ia., later purchasing a farm southeast of Colfax. They moved to Newton 17 years ago, where they have lived since. Although baptised in the Baptist church, she and her husband affiliated with the Palo Alto United Presbyterian church after their marriage. Surviving relatives include her husband; three sons, Richard, Vern and William of Newton; three daughters, Mrs. Edith Fraidley and Mrs. Pearl Hummel of Colfax and Mrs. Edna Breckenridge of Mansfield, O., and 17 grandchildren. Two brothers, William and David Benjamin, and a sister, Mrs. Rachael Rexroat, all of Newton, also survive.
