Description	:	POLK, Mary ISLANDTON - Mrs. Mary Crosby Polk, 87, of 2148 Gibson Road in Islandton entered into her eternal life surrounded by her loving family Wednesday afternoon, March 28, 2007, at her son's residence under the care of United Hospice following an extended illness. She was the widow of Mr. Bernice Harold Polk. Funeral services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday morning, March 31, 2007, from Rice Patch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton, with the Reverend Spencer Brotherson and the Reverend Richmond Drawdy officiating. She was the widow of Mr. Bernice Harold Polk. Funeral services will be held 11 o'clock Saturday morning, March 31, 2007, from Rice Patch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton, with the Reverend Spencer Brotherson and the Reverend Richmond Drawdy officiating. Interment, with Eastern Star Rites, will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Polk was born March 28, 1920, in Ruffin and was a daughter of the late Willie H. Crosby and the late Blanche Griffin Crosby. She was a retired seamstress from Walterboro Manufacturing and was a longtime member of Rice Patch Christian Church, Disciples of Christ. She was active in many aspects of the church and was a member of the Christian Women's Fellowship; and was also a member of Community Chapter, No. 206 Order of the Eastern Star in Islandton, where she was a Past Worthy Matron. She was also a member of the Bells-Ruffin FCL and the Senior Friends Organization through Colleton Medical Center in Walterboro. Mrs. Polk will always be remembered as a hardworking woman in the Islandton Community, a good Christian friend to all, and for always centering her life around her loving family, making her a great mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Surviving are: two sons, Charles William Polk, Sr. and his wife Betty Ann Polk of Islandton and Harold Daniel Polk and his wife Joyce Colson Polk of Beaufort; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Padgett and her husband Kenneth Padgett of Columbia; a brother, Holland Crosby of Ruffin; and a sister, Reba Nelson of Ruffin. There are eight grandchildren; Charles William Polk, Jr., Karen Bishop, Brenda Lyons, Cindy Polk, Danny Polk, Brian Padgett, Joy Wells and Ashley Padgett; and twelve great grandchildren, Caleb Bishop, Sarah Bishop, Hannah Brunson, Mikey Hartley, Hope Lyons, Brandy Lyons, Kassidy Padgett, Abigail Padgett, James Wells, Gray Wells, Jamie Polk and Jessica Polk; as-well-as several nieces and nephews that also survive. She was preceded in death by three brothers, James Crosby, Woodrow Crosby, and Marshall Crosby. Flowers will be accepted, or for those that wish, the family has suggested that memorials contributions be directed in her memory to: Rice Patch Christian Church, for the cemetery fund, 15246 Sniders Highway, Islandton, SC 29929.
