She was born June 10, 1892, at Elberon, and was the daughter of Jake and Mary Suchy Kucera. She was a graduate of Elberon high school and attended Leander Clark college, Toledo. For almost five years, she taught in rural schools in the Clutier vicinity. On March 19, 1913, she was wed to Joseph C. Caloud at Cedar Rapids. They established their home one-half mile east of Clutier on the farm where Mr. Caloud was born and raised. Mrs. Caloud continued to make her home there following her husband's death on March 24, 1956. The couple were the parents of a daughter, Mrs. Marie K. Vileta of Tama and twin sons, Norbert and Wilbert Caloud of Clutier. For nine years, Mrs. Caloud was president of the Clutier board of education. She was a charter member of the O. R. A. club, Clutier Rebekah lodge and American Legion auxiliary No. 453. She had served as presiding officer of each organization and had been awarded the Rebekah Degree of Chivalry. She was also a member of the Z. C. B. J. lodge. She is survived by her children, ten grandchildren: Mrs. Marilyn Fricke, Merrill C. Vileta, Tama; Robert, Barbara, Becky Jo and Mary Frances Caloud; Delbert, Katherine, Hubert and Herbert Caloud of Clutier. There are two great grandchildren: Michael and Morris Fricke of Tama. Also surviving are a brother, E. J. Kucera of Eagle Grove and a sister, Mrs. Agnes E. Dvorak of Elberon. She was preceded in death, in addition to her husband, by her parents, brother, William F. Kucera, Elberon, and a sister, Grace, in infancy. Services were held Tuesday, September 22 at 2 p. m. at the Fellmet funeral home in Keystone. Rev. Paul Westfall of Clutier officiated. Casket bearers are: Kenneth Untiedt, John Boll, Louis Saver, Leonard Parizek, J. P. Novak and George Hora. Burial was in the National cemetery Contributor: George (48419540)
