Mary Brower, nee Mary Marther, was born at Haddam, Connecticut, November 13th, 1826. Her family removed shortly afterward to Bradford county, Pennsylvania, where they resided seven years, after which they removed to Niagara county, New York, where they remained three years. Her family then located in Williamsfield, Ashtabula county, Ohio, where she was married to Arlineus Brower in the year 1845. ... Mary Brower, nee Mary Marther, was born at Haddam, Connecticut, November 13th, 1826. Her family removed shortly afterward to Bradford county, Pennsylvania, where they resided seven years, after which they removed to Niagara county, New York, where they remained three years. Her family then located in Williamsfield, Ashtabula county, Ohio, where she was married to Arlineus Brower in the year 1845. They resided in Ashtabula county until the spring of 1862, when they located on a farm in Livingston county, Illinois. In the spring of 1875 they disposed of their farm and removed therefrom to take up their residence in Pontiac in same county. Here they lived until they became citizens of the city of Fullerton November, 1884. She leaves to mourn her, husband Arlineus Brower and her two children, Martin I. Brower and Mrs. J. W. McClelland, who reside here. Throughout her whole life she has always been self-sacrificing and was greatly devoted to her husband and her children at all times and under all circumstances willing to deny herself many of the pleasures of life that they might be advanced in social and intellectual attainments. She was purely a domestic woman, caring nothing for ostentatious display or the pleasures of society, but rather enjoyed being in her quiet home with husband, her children and their little ones. While she did not make a profession of christianity by uniting with any church, yet her life, to those who knew her best, was sufficient proof that she possessed all the noble elements of a true christian. Kind and considerate to all with whom she came in contact, and never weary in well doing, she made warm and lasting friends where'er she lived. While she has for the fours months last past suffered the most excruciating pain, yet not a murmur of discontent passed her lips, bearing her sickness and trial with the fortitude of a true heroine. In her demise there is a loss of a true and loving wife, a tender and affectionate mother, a generous and noble hearted neighbor.
