She was born December 25, 1923 in Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Wilemenia Klein Bottema. Mary graduated from La Porte City High School with the Class of 1941. She was born December 25, 1923 in Riceville, Iowa, the daughter of Theodore and Wilemenia Klein Bottema. Mary graduated from La Porte City High School with the Class of 1941. She was united in marriage with Allan G. Kruckenberg on April 9, 1947 in La Porte City. He preceded her in death in January 1983. Mary was a homemaker and a farm wife. She also worked for several years in the kitchen of the La Porte City School. Mary was a long time member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Survivors include 2 sons, Bruce (Rhonda) Kruckenberg of Dubuque, IA and Michael (Jeanne) Kruckenberg of Postville, IA; a daughter, Marsha (Jim) Aspinall of Cedar Rapids; a daughter-in-law, Susan Kruckenberg of Ogden, IA; 9 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a son, Larry in 2008; 4 brothers, John, Hank, Rinard and William Bottema; 4 sisters, Catherine Joens, Johanna Supple, Angeline Stoner and Elizabeth Raymond. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, May 23, 2013 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Porte City with burial in Westview Cemetery. Public visitation will be held from 4:00-7:00 p.m. Wednesday at La Porte City Funeral Service where there will be a Parish Scripture Service at 4:30 p.m. and a rosary recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Thursday for an hour prior to the services at the Church.
