She was born June 29, 1923, in Hope, the daughter of John and Clara (Buttel) Morgan. She grew to womanhood in the community of her birth and attended Hope school, graduating from Hope High School. She married Louis "Mike" Mitchell and they made their home in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1988. She was employed at Beech Aircraft in Wichita for more than 40 years. Mitchell, 85, of Wichita, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 2008, in Tulsa, Okla. She was born June 29, 1923, in Hope, the daughter of John and Clara (Buttel) Morgan. She grew to womanhood in the community of her birth and attended Hope school, graduating from Hope High School. She married Louis "Mike" Mitchell and they made their home in Wichita. He preceded her in death on Dec. 31, 1988. She was employed at Beech Aircraft in Wichita for more than 40 years. She was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church, Wichita. Survivors include one son, Mike Mitchell of Kansas City, Mo.; a daughter, Mary "Peggy" Filner of Broken Arrow, Okla.; a brother, Larry Morgan of Hope; two sisters, Clare Wood of Austin, Texas, and Betty Lewis of Aniston, Ala.; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She also was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Morgan, and a sister, Rose Falen. A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 9, 2008, at St. Phillip's Catholic Church in Hope, Fr. Mark Wesley officiating. Burial will be in St. Phillip's Catholic Cemetery, Hope. Friends may call at the Carlson-Becker Funeral Home in Hope until time of service.
