Description	:	The Herald, Piedmont, West Virginia, Thursday, October 13, 1932: "Mrs. Mary Carey, aged 73 years, was found dead in bed yesterday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Lloyd Welsh, Westernport. She had high blood pressure for several years and it is presumed she suffered a stroke of paralysis during the night. Apparently, however, she was in good health when she retired. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Welsh, she leaves the following children: Richard Carey, Piedmont; John Carey, Sacramento, California; Mrs. H. E. Kraft, Baltimore; and Mrs. Harold Hadley, Arnold, Pa. Rev. Patrick Bradley officiated and burial was in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were: Thomas Walsh, John Dugan, P.H. Fahey, O. P. McGreevy, F. W. McKine and Joseph Gleason. The following persons from out of town attended the services: Mrs. H. E. Kraft, Annapolis; Mr. and Mrs. Hawkshaw, Thomas, W. Va,; Mr. and Mrs. James Hawkshaw, Jerome, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. M.F. O'Brien, Mrs. ? Foley, Mrs. John Burkenbaugh, Mrs. Walter Clay, Mrs. Ella Speicher and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Hines, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Quinn, Mr. and Mrs. P. A. Doolan, W. J. Mooney, Lonaconing; and Mrs. Mary Powers, Frostburg. Besides her daughter, Mrs. Welsh, Mrs. Carey leaves the following children: Richard Carey, Piedmont; John Carey, Sacramento, California; Mrs. H. E. Kraft, Annapolis; and Mrs. Harold Hadley, Arnold, Pa. A son, Peter Carey, died last April at Hamilton, Ohio. Her husband was the late James Carey. One sister, Mrs. S. E. Hawkshaw, Thomas, and three brothers, John and Patrick Cain, Denver, and Thomas Cain, Sacramento, Calif., also survive.
