Schroeder, 87, a former longtime Oyens resident, died Friday at the home of her son Lawrence Schroeder in Le Mars. She had been in failing health the last two months. Funeral services will be Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic church, Oyens, with Rev. Gerald Wingert officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine cemetery under direction of Luedtke funeral home, Le Mars. Friends may call at the Luedtke funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. Schroeder, 87, a former longtime Oyens resident, died Friday at the home of her son Lawrence Schroeder in Le Mars. She had been in failing health the last two months. Funeral services will be Monday, July 20, at 10 a.m. at St. Catherine Catholic church, Oyens, with Rev. Gerald Wingert officiating. Burial will be in St. Catherine cemetery under direction of Luedtke funeral home, Le Mars. Friends may call at the Luedtke funeral home after 2 p.m. Sunday. Third Order of St. Francis will recite the rosary at 3 p.m. Sunday and parish rosary will be at 8 p.m. Sunday evening. The former Mary Caroline Hastert, she was born Jan. 24, 1883, at David City, Neb., a daughter of the late Nicholas and Catherine Hastert. She married Eugene Schroeder Oct. 20, 1901, at David City. After their marriage, the couple farmed near Oyens until 1929. They then moved to Sioux City until 1954 when Mr. Schroeder died. She then went to Dearborn, Mich., to make her home with her daughter, Florence Schroeder. She was preceded in death by her husband; four sons, Leo, Clarence, Arnold, and Sylvester; five brothers, Charles, Peter, John, Henry, and Nick and two sisters, Mrs. Nick Rupert and Mrs. Anna Beckman. Survivors are three sons, Lawrence of Le Mars, Gregory of Sioux City and Vincent of Lakewood, Calif.; a daughter, Florence Schroeder of Dearborn, Mich.; two sisters, Mrs. Magdalene Streff and Mrs. Ann Kettler, both of Le Mars; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
