She was the wife of D. S. Brooks Jr. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday at Macedonia Methodist Church by her pastor, the Rev. L. E. Pope Jr. Burial will be in Cedardale Cemetery. Her church and community activities included being leader of the Kate Smith Circle; member of the WSCS executive board; treasurer of the newly formed Mullins Educational Fund; treasurer of the Methodist Church; and president of the PTA. Surviving are her husband; a daughter, Mary Louise Brooks; a son, David S. Brooks III; three brothers, Richard Winstead of Mullins, D. H. Winstead Jr. of Myrtle Beach, and Fred Winstead of Anderson; and a number of other relatives. Published in the News and Courier, March 1950
