Born July 12, 1901, in Middletown, she was the daughter of the late Samuel David and Catherine Rebecca Summers Bussard. Her husband, George Raymond Bowers, died in 1961. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, where she sang in the church choir and was a member of the Gleaners class and Sunshine class, of which she was president for many years. She was a member of Ladies Auxiliary of Middletown Volunteer Fire Co. and Middletown Senior Citizens. She also was known as the unofficial historian of Middletown. She is survived by one daughter, Charlotte R. Warrenfeltz of Middletown; two granddaughters, Susan M. Warrenfeltz of Middletown and Krista Geritz of Columbia, Md.; and two great-grandchildren. Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Middletown. The Revs. Donald L. Turley and Beverly Stang will officiate. Burial will be in Lutheran Cemetery, Middletown. The family will receive friends at Donald B. Thompson Funeral Home, Middletown, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and at the church one hour prior to the service. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime Wednesday. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the cemetery fund of Zion Lutheran Church, 107 W. Main St., Middletown, MD 21769, or to the employee fund of Homewood at Crumland Farms, 7407 Will Road, Frederick, MD 21702.
