Mary Clare daughter of John M. and Mary G. (McCarthy) Naughtin, was born September 4, 1921 in Spalding, NE. Mary Clare was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE., attended a rural Greeley (NE.) County grade school and graduated from Spalding (NE.) Academy. Read More	Mary Claire (Zahm) "Marie" Naughtin, 91, of Spalding, NE. passed away Thursday, November 22, 2012 at the Mid-Nebraska Lutheran Home in Newman Grove, NE. Mary Clare daughter of John M. and Mary G. (McCarthy) Naughtin, was born September 4, 1921 in Spalding, NE. Mary Clare was baptized and confirmed at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Spalding, NE., attended a rural Greeley (NE.) County grade school and graduated from Spalding (NE.) Academy. Following graduation, she worked in the x-ray department at St. Francis Hospital, Grand Island, NE., where she later received training to become a Registered Nurse. On January 27, 1944, Mary Clare enlisted in the United States Army Nurse Corps and served in the United States and France during World War II. She was honorably discharged on February 13, 1946 and furthered her education to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Her career took her many places including McCook, NE., Fargo, N.D., Texas, and Seward, NE. She later returned to Spalding, NE. to care for her parents and also worked part time at the hospital in Albion, NE. Mary Clare was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church and American Legion Post #299 of Spalding, NE. Mary Clare is survived by: sisters: Monica Zimmerman of Grand Island, NE., Bernadette (Joe) McQueen and Patricia (Al) Jirka, both of Omaha, NE. and a host of friends and relatives. Mary Clare was preceded in death by: parents, sister Rita Menck, and brothers-in-law: Eugene "Zimmy" Zimmerman, and Stan Menck. Interment was in the St. Michael's Parish Cemetery, Spalding, NE.
