Description	:	Bedford Times-Press (Bedford, Iowa), Thursday, May 1952 Mrs Mary Crystal Manley, 77, a lifelong resident of Siam, died at 10:00 o'clock am Sunday, May 4, at the home of her step-grandson, Mr and Mrs Orville Manley. Funeral services will be this Thursday, May 8, 2 pm at the Siam Methodist church. The Rev Earl Streyffeler of Tingley, Iowa, will officiate. Burial will be in the Siam cemetery. Mary Crystal Smith Manley, daughter of Isaac Smith and Flora Ellen Woolen was born near Siam in Taylor county, Iowa, March 1, 1875, and passed away May 4, 1952, at the home of Orville Manley step-grandson, where she made her home. She was 77 years, 2 months and 3 days and had been in failing health. On Sept 11, 1893, she married Henry S. [herman] Clayton and they had 3 issues: Ralph, Lillie, and Omer Clayton. The husband died Oct 10, 1910 and also 2 sons, 4 brothers and 2 sisters preceded her in death. On Oct 21, 1926 she married Francis M. Manley who died May 15, 1939. She united with the M.E. church of Siam as a young woman and faithfully attended. She will be remembered for her kindness. She leaves to mourn her, a daughter Lillie Pierce of Clarinda, sister Elizabeth Allen, Corpus Christi, Texas, Anna Addison, Pacific City, Ore, Harriet Bursaw of Portland, Ore, 2 brothers, Abram Smith of Sheridan, Wyo and Simeon Smith of Ruth, Nev, one aunt Rilda Oxley of New Market, 6 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 3 step-children, several step-grandchildren.
