July 22, 1879 ~Two children died in infancy ******** Alton Democrat; July 12, 1913 Mrs. Paul Hein died at her home in Alton on Sunday, July 6th, of paralysis, after being a sufferer with that disease for more than a year. Mrs. Paul Hein nee Miss Mary Dankhoff was born in Vinigregan Germany on June 7, 1835. On January 18, 1857, she was united in marriage to Paul Hein. The ceremony was performed in the Catholic Church of Vinigregan, Germany. This union was blessed with twelve children, ten of whom survive. Mr. and Mrs. Hein came to the United States in September of 1862 and in 1885 came to Sioux County, locating on a farm on the Alton-Granville road where they resided until a few years ago when they came to Alton to end their declining days in comfort. On August 7th, 1910, Mr. Hein passed on to his reward and on Sunday last he was followed by his wife. The funeral was held on Wednesday from St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with the Rev. F.J. Brune officiating at the services. Interment was made in the Hein lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Deceased is survived by two sons and eight daughters as follows: Mrs. P.H. Thiel of Pipestone, Minnesota, Mrs. M. Schuh of Meriden, Iowa, Mrs. W.E. Blair of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Mrs. G.W. Lohr of Alberta, Canada, John of Garnell, Montana, Mrs. J.J. Ardolf of Calumet, Minnesota, Frank of Linn Grove, Iowa, Anna of Alton, Iowa, Mrs. T.F. Fisch of Edgerton, Minnesota and Mrs. Harry Zorgdrager of Devon, Iowa.
