Description	:	Mary was the first child of Arie Cornelius and Jaantje "Jane" (De Bruin) De Jong. She had eleven siblings - John, Martin, Richard, Margaret, Jacob, Peter, Wilma, William, Gerrit, Herman and Anna. Mary was baptized in the Third Reformed Church of Pella. The children were raised on rented farms in Prairie and Richland townships in Iowa until 1914 when their parents purchased their own farm south of Peoria. In 1925 the family lived in Grundy Twp, and in 1930 they had moved to Palermo, Grundy Co., IA. John was as salesman for medical supplies. This came to me from findagrave members Cindy and Steve Hols. Thank you very much. Friends and relatives of Mrs. J. Neels were shocked to hear of her sudden death Wednesday of last week. Mrs. Neels was the oldest daughter of A. C. De Jong, and was thus known by a good many people. After funeral services in Grundy Center, where she resided for many years, the body was brought here for interment in the Peoria cemetery following a brief service conducted by Rev M. J. Vander Werp.
