Description	:	Jacob was born to Arie C. and Jaantje "Jane" (DeBruin) De Jong the sixth child of 12. His siblings were Mary, John, Martin, Richard, Margaret, Peter, Wilma, William, Gerrit, Herman and Anna all born in Iowa. This was a farm family who rented farms until 1914 when Jacob's parents bought their own farm. It was a typical farm, raising cows, horses, pigs, and chicken. Read More	Jacob was born to Arie C. and Jaantje "Jane" (DeBruin) De Jong the sixth child of 12. His siblings were Mary, John, Martin, Richard, Margaret, Peter, Wilma, William, Gerrit, Herman and Anna all born in Iowa. This was a farm family who rented farms until 1914 when Jacob's parents bought their own farm. It was a typical farm, raising cows, horses, pigs, and chicken. The family was active in founding the Peoria Christian Reformed Church. Jacob registered for the draft for WWI in 1918 at the age of 20. He was medium build and had brown hair and eyes. He was a student and completed four years of college. On July 20, 1927 at age 28, Jacob married Julia De Boer. They had one daughter, Amaryllis born Dec. 30, 1928. She later married Frank Buurstra. In 1930 Jacob was a clergyman in the Reformed Church in Leighton Iowa. In 1935 and 1940 he served in Westfield North Dakota, then went on to pastor in Hymes California and Grand Rapids Michigan. He also served as a chaplain in the Army during WWII. He died in Grand Rapids, Michigan but was buried in Peoria, Iowa.
