Read More	The Edgar Sun (Edgar, NE) Fri. Oct 18, 1940 - Page 1 Mrs. Mary Della Armstrong Mary Della, daughter of James H. and Charity Sweny, was born at Morenci, Michigan, September 26, 1856. She was the youngest of five daughters, all of whom preceded her in death. She grew to womanhood in Morenci, receiving her education there and at Adrian College, Adrian, Michigan. On December 13, 1883, she was united in marriage with Harry A. Armstrong. To this union were born two children, Nona and Percy. Also in the family was a nephew, Harry Smith, whom she has loved and cared for as a son since the death of his mother when he was four years of age. The family moved to South Dakota in 1886 where they resided until 1888 when they returned to the old home in Michigan. That same fall they moved to Edgar, Nebraska, where they resided until 1936. In August of that year she suffered an injury to her hip. Being unable to care for their home she and Mr. Armstrong moved to Clarks, Nebraska. where they have made their home with Dr. and Mrs. J. Shaw Little. Mrs. Armstrong was a devout Christian having been baptized into the Baptist Church in Morenci, Michigan, when she was 14 years of age. Upon moving to Nebraska she transferred her membership to the Baptist Church at Edgar, where she was an active member until disorganized. She then attended the Presbyterian Church and in 1936 transferred her membership to the Presbyterian Church. She was always interested in church and civic affairs, serving as a Sunday school teacher, county president of the W. C. T. U., a member of the Ladies' Library Board and a member of the Edgar Board of Education. She passed away at Clarks, Nebraska on Thursday, October 10, 1940, at the age of 84 years and 14 days. She is survived by her husband, Harry A.; children, Mrs. J. Shaw Little of Clarks, Nebraska, Percy of Hastings, Nebraska and Harry Smith of Oakland, California; also six grandchildren, Shaw, Tom, Jack and Barbara Little, and Mary and Nona Jean Armstrong. Short services were held from the family home in Edgar, Sunday afternoon, October 13, 1940, being conducted by John W. Kile, student pastor of the local Presbyterian Church. Pallbearers were three grandsons, Shaw, Tom and Jack Little, Otto Little and J.G. and Gerald Walley. Burial was made in the Edgar Cemetery. Contributor: Jan Plambeck (46975511) • [email protected]
