Description	:	MARY BIRDSALL Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the home for Mrs. Mary D. Birdsall with Rev. I E. England pastor of the Methodist Church. She passed away Thursday evening and the body was removed to the Comer Funeral Home, where it lay in state until Sunday morning when it was taken to the home. R. R. Honeyman and Frederick Larson sang, "Face to Face" and Jesus Lover of My Soul" accompanied by Mrs. Honeyman on the piano. Casket bearers were J. A. Sawyer. Mary Diane Tubbs, daughter of Lewis W. and Sibyl J. Tubbs was born October 3, 1862 near the present site of the town of Malvern and passed away at her home in Emerson, January 4, 1951, aged 88 years, 3 months, and one day. She was a member of a pioneer family who were among the founders of the town of Emerson. Her brother, Dr. R. B. Tubbs of Russellville, Arkansas is the only surviving member of this family. When she was 7 years old the family moved to Emerson where she has lived almost continuously for 80 years. She attended the public schools in Glenwood and Emerson and the Academy of Tabor. When a young woman, she untied with the Emerson Presbyterian Church later transferring her membership to the Methodist Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and a chapter member of the Emerson Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward B. Birdsall and two of her daughters, Ethel M. Rhoades and Louise Whisler. There are three surviving children; Lewis W. Rowley of Pasadena, California, Edward R. Birdsall and Avis Taylor of Emerson, 10 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. She lived a beautiful and useful life and will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Among the relatives and friends from a distance attending the funeral were: Mrs. Francis Wolfe and daughter of Albuquerque, New Mexico; Mrs. E. M. Whisler and daughters, Mr. and Mrs. E. L. Birdsall of Des Moines, Mr. and Mrs. Leslie Noble and son John of Beatrice, Nebraska, Mrs. Edith McArthur and Mr. and Mrs. Frank McArthur of Oakland, Mr. and MRs. Clyde Rhoads, Frank Wallace and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Morgan of Glenwood, Mr. and Mrs. Ogden Belt and Jack Evans of Red Oak, Miss Sylvia Whisler of Tarkio, Missouri.
