Description	:	Marshalltown Times-Republican Monday, April 18,1927 Mrs. Mary Benson Passes Old Resident of LaMoille Dies After Long Illness Mrs. mary Benson, of LaMoille, died at 11:30 Sunday forenoon at the Deaconess hospital, following an operation for appendicitis. Mrs. Benson had been in failing health for five years and had been a patient at the hospital for eight weeks. Mrs. Benson was born Mary Durkee, in Fort Atkinson, Wis., June 1, 1854. Mrs. Benson had been in failing health for five years and had been a patient at the hospital for eight weeks. Mrs. Benson was born Mary Durkee, in Fort Atkinson, Wis., June 1, 1854. She spent her girlhood in Fort Atkinson, and then came to Iowa with her parents, settling at Ames. After a year's residence there the family moved to the LaMoille neighborhood. For the last twenty-one years she had made her home in the town of LaMoille. She was married March 9, 1871, at LaMoille, to George Benson, who died August 29, 1909. To this union twelve children were born, six of whom survive. They are Sam Benson, Polson, Mont,; Ray Benson, Proter, Minn.; Mrs. L.L. Lane, Melbourne, and Henry and Walter Benson and Mrs. G.F. Coulter, LaMoille. A brother, Durkee Chadwick, of Ft. Atkinson, Wis., also survives. Mrs. Benson was a member of the Community church of LaMoille, the LaMoille Women's Club and the Rebekah Lodge of the city. Funeral services will be held at 3 PM Tuesday afternoon from the community church at Lamoille in charge of Rex. Mr. Farnham.
