Description	:	Mary Ahern was born in Wayne County, Nebraska, on December 16, 1896. Her parents, John and Ellen (O’Reagan) Ahern, lived and farmed northeast of Carroll, Nebraska. Mary’s father emigrated to the United States as a child, coming from County Kerry, Ireland. Read More	Mary Ahern was born in Wayne County, Nebraska, on December 16, 1896. Her parents, John and Ellen (O’Reagan) Ahern, lived and farmed northeast of Carroll, Nebraska. Mary’s father emigrated to the United States as a child, coming from County Kerry, Ireland. Her mother, who was born to Irish natives living in England, also came to the United States when she was quite young. On April 14, 1915, Mary became the wife of Matthew Finn. Their wedding was at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church in Carroll. They started their life together on a farm near Carroll. They later moved to a farm west of Wayne, Nebraska, where they lived until 1945, when they retired from farming and moved to Norfolk, Nebraska. During their years in Wayne County, Matt and Mary had seven children. Mary died in Norfolk on February 6, 1970. Funeral services were held on February 9 at Sacred Heart Church in Norfolk. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Mary was survived by her husband and seven children, 38 grandchildren and a great-grandchild. She was also survived by two brothers, John Ahern and Robert Ahern, and a sister Kathryn (Thompson). She was preceded in death by her parents and four brothers, Maurice, Cornelius, William and James.
