Description	:	Matthew Finn, son of James Finn and Elizabeth Jennett, was born in Wayne County, Nebraska, on January 31, 1891. His father was a native of County Mayo, Ireland, and his mother was born and raised in Bureau County, Illinois. Matthew was the oldest of their seven sons. They also had three daughters. Read More	Matthew Finn, son of James Finn and Elizabeth Jennett, was born in Wayne County, Nebraska, on January 31, 1891. His father was a native of County Mayo, Ireland, and his mother was born and raised in Bureau County, Illinois. Matthew was the oldest of their seven sons. They also had three daughters. Matthew spent his early years on a farm south of Wayne, Nebraska. In 1907, the family moved to another farm six miles northeast of Carroll. It was there, as a young man, that Matt found the love of his life, Mary Ahern, the daughter of nearby farm neighbors John and Ellen Ahern. They were married in Carroll, at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church on April 14, 1915. Matt and Mary started their married life on a farm in the same area northeast of Carroll. Later they acquired a farm west of Wayne, where they lived until 1945, when they retired from farming and moved to Norfolk, Nebraska. Matt switched from farming to carpenter work after moving to Norfolk. During their years in Wayne County, Matt and Mary had seven children. Matt died in Norfolk on June 29, 1974. Funeral services were held on July 2 at Sacred Heart Church in Norfolk. Burial was in Hillcrest Memorial Park Cemetery in Norfolk. Mary preceded Matt in death. She passed away in Norfolk on February 6, 1970. He was also preceded in death by his parents and five brothers: Michael, William, Cliff, John and Leo. Matt was survived by his seven children, 38 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was also survived by his brother Ray and three sisters, Margaret (Dougherty), Marie (Thun) and Ellen (Sister Helen Marie).
