Read More	Mary was the daughter of Charles G. and Nancy (Bacon) Gifford of Woodstock, New Hampshire. She was married to Francis Dwyer on July 4, 1847 in Vermont. The family removed from Vermont abt. 1848 to Benton, and later N. Woodstock, New Hampshire. ************************************* c. 1848, "The names of Charles Gifford and Francis Dwyer appear this same year for the first time. Charles Gifford was of Scotch ancestry, an had all the Scotch thrift. He settled on a small farm on the hill road leading from the No. 5 school house. He was a rigid Presbyterian, a quiet, God fearing man of the old puritanical school. His eldest daughter, Mary, was the wife of Francis Dwyer, who came to town with him, and who resided at first on the farm on the old road to North Haverhill, now owned by Lucetta Tyler, of Stoneham, and whose large family of children were all born in Benton (NH), but are now widely scattered. Francis Dwyer was for many years the only Irishman in this town, peopled by those of English blood. He spent some years in California, and on his return, purchased the farm now owned by George Bailey. Another daughter of Charles Gifford, Laura, married John W. Gray of Easton, and a son, John O. No death record has been located for Francis Dwyer. After Francis died, Mary moved with some of her children and their families to Seattle, Washington. She is recorded on the 1889 Washington State and Territorial Census record with son, Willis, as well as the Seattle city directories for that year.
