Graham, 92, of Lincoln, NE, formerly of Hubbard, NE passed away on Wednesday, January 11, 2017 at Trinity Center in Des Moines, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 A.M. on Tuesday, January 17, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hubbard, NE. Burial will be in St. John's Cemetery in Hubbard. Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. on Monday, January 16, 2017, with the family present at 6:00 P.M., the Rosary recited at 6:30 P.M. and a prayer service at 7:00 P.M. at the Mohr Funeral Home in South Sioux City, NE. Mary was born on April 3, 1924 in Sioux City, IA, the daughter of John and Mary "Mamie" (Heenan) Heeney. She graduated from Cathedral High School in Sioux City, IA. She earned her Associate Degree from a business college in Sioux City and worked as a legal assistant for a local attorney. Mary married Lawrence "Cap" Graham on June 1, 1948 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Hubbard. They settled in Dakota City and were blessed with two children. Because of Lawrence's work, they lived in various communities in NE Nebraska before eventually settling in Lincoln, NE. She was a homemaker and also worked as a volunteer at an orthopedic clinic in Lincoln. Lawrence passed away on September 30, 1999. She was very active in St. Peter's Catholic Church in Lincoln. Legion of Mary was a very important part of her life. She also loved spending time with her family, extended family and her granddaughters. Mary was very social and enjoyed working with people, her church work, and reading. Survivors include her daughter, Maureen (Stephen) Nowak of Ankeny, IA; granddaughters, Mindy (Justin) Drake and Kristen Nowak; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Graham; her son, Thomas Graham; parents, John and Mamie Heeney; siblings, Jack and Leo Heeney and Catherine Eriksen.
