DIED AT BOZEMAN MONTANA Mrs. Mary Mallory Peckham, wife of Orlando Peckham of this city, died at Bozeman, Montana, Thursday, December 12, 1912, at 10:45 in the morning after a lingering illness. The cause of death is directly attributed to anemia and followed a nervous breakdown which was greatly aggravated by the tragedy in Villisca last June. Mrs. Peckham lived next door to the J. B. Moore family and was the first to surmise that a tragedy had been enacted there. The awful affair so prayed upon her mind that health gradually failed her. On the third of December, 1912, Mrs. Peckham was taken to Montana in the hopes that her condition might be ameliorated, her daughter, Mrs. E. C. Hough and son, E. L. Peckham said Dr. Hough accompanying her, but all that loving hands could do was of no avail. she died at the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 11 days. The body was brought to Villisca Saturday and funeral services were held at the home of Dr and Mrs. E. C Hough, Sunday afternoon at three o'clock. The interment was in the Villisca Cemetery. Mary Mallory was born at West Clarksville, New York, May 1, 1849, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. H. Mallory, removing at the age of seventeen to Grundy County, Illinois, where her marriage to Orlando Peckham was solemnized the same summer. There were two children, Hattie and Ernest, who with the husband survive. The family came to Villisca in 1887. Mrs. Peckham became a member of the Advent Christian Church in early childhood, uniting with the M. E. Church in 1887, to which she belonged at the time of her demise. Besides the husband and children, Mrs. Peckham is surviving by two brothers, Joseph Mallery in Washington and George Mallery living in New York. There are also two sisters, Mrs. Martha Wilkins of Olean, New York, and Mrs. Jonathan Wise of Villisca. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. J. Ewing, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church of Villisca and Rev. J. W. Taylor of the M. E. Church. Many friends of the bereaved family attended the bereaved family attended and the floral tokens of love and sympathy were both numerous and beautiful.
