Harrison Malloy and Cordelia Blakesley Tremain, was born March 19, 1846 in Greene, New York, where she spent her girlhood. When she was 17 years old she married Herbert DeWayne Peckham, who was at the time serving with the United States Marine Band. The five children born to them are Mrs. Nellie Phillips, Howard Peckham, Villisca, Arthur Peckham, Coral Gables, Florida, Albert Peckham, who died in 1909, and one son who died in infancy. Besides the three children who survive Mrs. Wise, there is a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Litia Peckham, Fontanelle, Iowa; 14 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. a double niece, Mrs. Hattie Hough Russell, Marshall, Missouri and a double nephew Ernest Peckham, Blachly, Oregon. Following the civil war, Mr. and Mrs. Peckham came to Iowa and with the exception of a short time spent in Kansas, the remainder of Mrs. Wise's life was spent in this vicinity. On August 15, 1878, Mr. Peckham died. Nine years later, Mrs. Peckham married B. J. Wright and after his death in 1903, Mrs. Wright moved to Villisca where she lived next door to her daughter, Mrs. Phillips until her death Thursday morning of last week when she was found dead in bed by her daughter-in-law, Mrs. Littia Peckham who had been here staying with Mrs. Wise for the last few weeks. In 1915, Mrs. Wright married Jonathan Wise, who preceded her in death in March 1925. At the time of her death, Mrs. Wise was a member of the Villisca Methodist Church. During her life she had been affiliated with several denominations, since she always identified herself with a church in whatever community she was located. Mrs. Wise was known to her family and friends as "Ma." She had had such a full and interesting life that even until the end the stories of the time she spent in Washington during the Civil War, of the many times she had seen and heard Lincoln speak, and of being in the capital at the time Lincoln was assassinated, were most vivid in her mind, and she always delighted in relating them.
