Description	:	"Mary E. Stone was the daughter of Willis and Louisa Stone, was born in Fairfield, Iowa, Aug. 16, 1836, and came to Marion county with her parents when but a little child. She was united in marriage to James W. Richards, Dec. 6, 1857, who also was one of our early pioneers. To their union eleven children were born: three died in infancy and all the rest grew to womanhood and manhood nine miles south of Knoxville. Those living are Mrs. Sue Hedrick, Mrs. Hattie Neely, Mrs. Jennie Amsberry, of this city; Mrs. Nannie Adams and Noah Richards, near Chariton; Enoch Richards, of Leon; and Allen Richards, of Cambria. Besides the children she leaves thirty grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. Since the death of the husband and father, who passed away Nov. 3, 1906, she has made her home with her daughter Mrs. Neely at whose home she died and who gave her mother all the loving care a daughter could ministering to here every want. She united with the Methodist church when 18 years of age, and had remained a true Christian woman. She was a good woman in every sense of that word, and on that account it may be truly said she also leaves a host of friends who will long mourn her departure from the earthly scene."
