The service was in chare of the Rev. T.P. Holcomb, pastor of the Free Methodist church here. Mrs. Gilley's death came very suddenly. After spending a number of years in California she left Santa Ana by bus on July 6th, to return to Coon Rapids for a visit. The bus stopped at Pomona, California, and Mrs. Gilley died almost instantly in a rest room there, probably from a blood clot. Mary Edna Beers, daughter pf Dr. and Mrs. T.(L.)A. Beers, was born at Gray, Iowa, on Nov. 8, 1882. She spent her early girlhood in and around Gray and in these years joined the Methodist church. On Feb. 28, 1907, she was united in marriage to Vernace Edgar Gilley and they spent their married life on a farm northeast of Carrollton. After her husbands death in March of 1932, Mrs. Gilley moved to Coon Rapids and lived there several years. The last four years of her life were spent in Santa Ana, Calif. with her younger daughter. In January of this year Mrs. Gilley was very seriously injured in an accident but had recovered nicely and seemed to be enjoying good health up to the time of her death. Mrs. Gilly was called into eternity very suddenly on July 6, 1945 at the age of 62 years, 7 months, and 28 days. Those left to mourn her passing include two daughters, Mrs. Ralph Piper of Lake City, and Floy of Santa Ana, California; four sons; Max, Lloyd and Bill, serving their country in the United States Navy; Myron of Ogden. Two Brothers; Charles and Ormsby Beers of Salmon, Idaho, one sister, Mrs. Frank Bellamy of Salmon, Idaho, and eight grandchildren., also a host of relatives and friends.
