Mary Moniger, 65, resident of Belt and vicinity for half a century, died in a Great Falls hospital after being ill for some time. She was known to many as the first white woman to be married in Montana after statehood was approved in 1889. Services will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in the rose room of the Merrill mortuaries. She and her husband, Sam Moniger, who were married in Helena, made their home in the vicinity of Belt, where they engaged in ranching and farming. Mr. Moniger died Nov. 29, 1930. There survive four sons, Charles Moniger of Great Falls, James Moniger of Great Falls, John and Joseph Moniger of Belt; two daughters, Mrs. Mary Hollis of Spokane and Mrs. Fred Brandon of Kelso, Wash.; and one brother, Edwin Patton of Wisconsin.
