Lias at her home in this city last Friday afternoon, December 16, 1921. She had suffered from severe headaches at times and that morning had remained in bed for that reason. Mr. Lias came down town-on an errand in the afternoon and before leaving the house asked his wife if there, was not something he could get her or if he should call a doctor, to which she dissented. When Mr. Lias returned home, in about an hour, he was greatly alarmed to find her apparently lifeless in bed. Neighbors and a physician were hastily summoned, only to confirm the fact that the Angel of Death had entered and her spirit had passed to the-Great Beyond. Mrs. Mary E. Faull was born September 23, 1873, in Johnson township, Plymouth county, Iowa. She was united in marriage with George H. Lias at Le Mars, Iowa, December 24, 1890, and they resided on a farm south of Akron until. three years ago, when they retired from active farm life and moved to Akron.- To this union two sons—Eugene and Earl—were born. Mrs. Lias' father died in 1889. Her mother, now Mrs. J. L. Crow, lives at Hillsboro, Oregon. A sister, Mrs. Nettie Jeffries, resides also at the same place. These relatives, together with the husband, two sons, daughter-in-law and little grandchild have the deepest sympathy of the entire community in their sad and sudden bereavement. Having resided in this vicinity all her life, Mrs. Lias had an unusually wide circle of friends. A loving and devoted wife and mother, whose principal effort was in the making of a happy home life, she was also known as a kind-hearted: neighbor, who, whenever there was occasion, proved her helpfulness. An active and loyal member of the local W. R. C. and American Legion Auxiliary, she will be greatly missed in those circles. Funeral services were conducted at the home Sunday afternoon by Rev. Carl Hammer, of the M. E. church, and there was a large gathering o£ sympathizing neighbors and friends. Interment was in Riverside cemetery.
