Description	:	The Holton Recorder, November 18, 1920: The death of Miss Eleanor Brown, aged 20, occurred at Manhattan Monday night, as a result from a fall from an automobile. She fell from the running board of a car at noon Monday while riding to school. Her head struck the pavement causing concussion of the brain. Her mother, Mrs. Mary Naylor Brown, who is a teacher in the Beatrice high school, reached her daughter shortly before she died. Her uncle James S. The Holton Recorder, November 25, 1920: Mary Eleanor Brown was born March 7, 1902, on a farm six miles west of Holton. Owing to the ill health of her father, she moved to Colorado Springs in her infancy. They returned to Holton, where the father died when she was about sixteen months old. Here she spent her girlhood days with her mother and brother, and the family of her grandparents. She attended grammar school in Holton. When she was twelve she went with her aunt to California, where she lived for a year and a half. While there she graduated from the Normal Training Department of the San Diego Normal School. Her high school education was received in Tonopah, Nevada, and in Clyde, Kansas, where she graduated in 1919. The following year she became a student in the home economics department of Kansas State Agricultural College, where she met her fatal accident. It was while in Tonopah that she united with the First Presbyterian church. During her term on college she was affiliated with the Alpha Delta Pi sorority. Eleanor was greatly interested in all school activities and was a member of the Enchiladas, freshman commission, and Y. W. C. A. ….
