She departed this life March 8, 1944, at the hospital in Geneva, Neb., at the age of eighty years. Death was due to injuries sustained in a fall. Read More	PADLEY, MARY ELEANOR ELEANOR—Mary Eleanor Kimbrough, the fourth child of James and Mary Kimbrough, was born March 8, 1864, at Jerseyville, Ill. She departed this life March 8, 1944, at the hospital in Geneva, Neb., at the age of eighty years. Death was due to injuries sustained in a fall. As a child, she moved with her parents to Oregon, Ill., where she grew to young womanhood. She was united in the holy bonds of matrimony to Frederick W. Padley, February 23, 1881, at Oregon, Ill. To this union two children were born, Mrs. Francis Putlitz of Fairmont, Neb., and Charles D. Padley of Columbia, S. D. Mr. and Mrs. Padley came to Nebraska in the year, 1885 and settled at Strang. Early in their residence at this place, Mrs. Padley united with the Congregational church, where she held her membership until her death. For a number of years she taught a Sunday school class in her home church. In 1894 the family moved to Fairmont, Neb., and except for two years spent in Missouri, Mrs. Padley made Fairmont her home until the end of life's journey. Her husband passed away September 27, 1921. During the past twenty-three years Mrs. Padley made her home with her daughter, Mrs. Francis Putlitz in Fairmont. During her long residence in this community, she cultivated a wide circle of friends who will ever hold her in tender remembrance. She possessed great mental vigor, maintained an active interest in both community and national affairs, and was devoted to the better things of life. She was a woman of deep conviction and, even though quite outspoken, expressed only what she sincerely believed in her heart. She was a member of the local Sunset club and a faithful attendant and loyal supporter of the Fairmont Federated church. She was held in high esteem and will be long remembered for the contributions she made to a better society. She leaves to mourn her death, her two children, already mentioned; two grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, and one sister, Mrs. Lydia Houze of Chase City, Va.; one nephew, Claude J. Kimbrough, Geneva, Neb., and a host of friends and other relatives. Funeral services were held at the Kritner funeral home in Fairmont at 2:30 p. m. Saturday, March 11, Rev. E. R. King of the Federated church officiated. Interment was in the Geneva cemetery. The Nebraska Signal March 16, 1944, page 8.
