MARY WHITE Funeral services were held from the Tracy Funeral Home, Little Current, Monday, October 6, for Mrs. Mary E. White, Mrs. White died suddenly at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Reg. Hughson, Manitowaning, Friday, October 3. She was in her 86th year. Born at Marlne Hollow, York Township, December 25, 1872. Mrs. White came to Manitoulin Island with her parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Brown, when six years old. She attended school at what was known then as the Scotch settlement school, near Manitowaning. Later she attended high school at Manitowaning. Later she married Darius White and settled on her husband's farm at Ten Mile Point. Twenty-six years later they moved to Green Bay. Here they farmed until their retirement. Mrs. White's main interest was in her family, but at the same time she was keenly interested in community and world affairs. Predeceased by her husband, July 30, 1941, she is survived by four sons, Mayor Charles White Little Current, George of Providence Bay, Stanley of Whitefish Falls, Clifford of Green Bay, six daughters, May (Mrs. John Randall) of Milton; Myrtle (Mrs. B.B. Dunlop) of Owen Sound, Pearl (Mrs. Norman Harvey) of Terra, Nova Scotia; Ethel (Mrs. W. H. Nevills of Milton; Cecile (Mrs. W. A. Ferguson) of Green Bay; Dorothy (Mrs. Reg Hughson) of Manitowaning, a brother John Brown of Manitowaning; forty-eight grandchildren andthrity eight great-grandchildren. Rev. Robert Wagner, Little Current officiated at the funeral service. Mrs. Douglas Tracy and Mrs. Robert Wagner accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Madden, sand The Old Rugged Cross. The pallbearers, all grandsons of the deceased, were, Ronald Ferguson, Moreland White, James White, Robert Hughson, Billie Ferguson, Wilfrid Dunlop, Nolan Dunlop and Donald White. Interment took place at Sheguiandah cemetery.
