Funeral services were held this Thursday afternoon, Oct. 19, at the Christian church in Siam, conducted by Rev. C. A. Abbott, pastor of the Hopkins Christian church. Burial was in Siam cemetery. Mrs. Smith was born in Indiana in 1856, and had been a resident of Bedford and Siam for many years. Her husband, the late Ed Smith, died several years ago. She is survived by four daughters and two sons. They are Mrs. Oscar Duncan and Rufus Smith of North Hollywood, Cal., Mrs. Lettie Ostenberg of Fresno, Cal., Mrs. Minnie Williams and Mrs. Mary Arthur of Hopkins, William S. Smith of Bedford. There are also several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Bedford Times-Press (Bedford, Iowa), Thursday, October 26, 1950 Mary Elizabeth McKee Smith - Mary Elizabeth McKee Smith, daughter of Reuben [Dooley] and Amey [Amy Landen] McKee, was born April 22, 1856, in Park county, Ind., and died in Bedford, Oct. 16, 1950, at the age of 94 years, five months and 16 days. She came to Taylor County with her parents when she was three months old. She spent most of her life here, except for a few years spent in Kansas. She joined the Christian church in Siam, when she was a young woman. She married Edward Smith Feb. 22, 1875. To this union were born nine children. Three of the children, Thomas and Simeon Smith and Loreta Smith Miller, preceded their mother in death. Her husband died in 1946. Surviving are three daughters, Marian Williams and Mary Arthur of Hopkins, Lettie Ostenburg of Fresno, Cal., Jennie Duncan of North Hollywood, Cal.; two sons, Rufus Smith of North Hollywood, Cal., and William Smith of Bedford, 18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren. Music was furnished by Mrs. Floyd Farlow, Mrs. Reid Shields, Mrs. Del Miller and Mrs. Orval Cant, accompanied by Mrs. Glenn Stewart.
