Note that Belle, Findagrave, appears under Maries County. ------- The obituary of Mrs. Gieck's husband follows: George Gieck, 86, Dies at Koenig Came from Germany to This Country at Age of Seven— Funeral Conducted Wednesday George Gieck, one of Osage county's early settlers, died at his home at Koenig, Sunday afternoon, April 24, 1949, following a decline in health over a period of two years. He was 86 years, 7 months and 6 days old. Mr. Gieck was born in Germany September 18, 1862, and came with his parents to the Koenig community when a lad of seven years. There he lived his entire life. HE was a man who remembered hardship in the old country and knew them, too, in this country. He was always in a jovial mood which earned him the nickname, "Monkey." Mr. Gieck married Miss Elizabeth Mitchell at Byron in 1899. She preceded him in death eight years ago. Three sons and a daughter were born to them: Joe Gieck, Jefferson City; Virgil Gieck, Belle; Edw. Gieck, who preceded the father in death four years ago; and Mrs. Homer Perkins of the family home. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild survive with a brother, Edw. Gieck, Goodwill, Okla. Mr. Gieck united with the Koenig Methodist church many years ago. Funeral services were conducted from the home Wednesday morning with the pastor, the Rev. Roy C. Jett, Bland, officiating.
