Read More	Per Marilyn Kromrey: ARLINGTON NEWS, Arlington, Iowa, May 4, 1933, Page 1: Obituary--Mrs. Jesse Pierce Mary Elizabeth Vanwey Pierce. Mary Elizabeth Vanwey was born on July 9, 1861, and died about six o'clock on the afternoon of April 28, 1933. She was a native of Ohio, when about six years old she came with her parents to Wisconsin, making the journey in a covered wagon. In Wisconsin she and Jessie Pierce were married on January 19, 1875. To this union ten children were born, one died in infancy, the others with their mother mourned the death of their father January 15, 1921. The Pierce home was re-established in Buchananan County, Iowa, in 1889, and for the past 35 years the family has resided in Fayette County. Since . Pierce's death, Mrs. Piece has made her home with her son Robert, north of Arlington, Iowa, where she lived until her death. Surviving Mrs. Pierce are two sisters, Eva C. Henry and Ella Mundis and two brothers Will and Delbert all of Oklahoma. Eight children, Harry of Colorado, John of Wis. Lucinda Harriman of Fayette, Iowa, Floyd and Russell of Arlington, Iowa, Robert of near Arlington, and Golda Tripp of Wadena, Iowa, also survive. May Averill and Emma Fox preceded their mother in death. There are 31 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Mrs. Piece will be missed by her large circle of relatives and neighbors. (Mary E. Piece died of Myocardial Failure.) Funeral services following prayer at the Gleie Undertaking Parlow, were held at 2 P.M., Sunday, April 30, 1933, in the Methodist Church in Arlington, in charge of Rev. Morris Chamberlin. Burial was in Taylorsville Cemetery in the family lot beside her husband. E. church Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Maurice Chamberlin, son of the local pastor, officiated. Interment was made in t h e Taylorsville cemetery. Mrs. Pierce was born in Ohio, and has been a resident of Fayette county for the last thirty-five years. She is survived by eight children, thirty nine grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren.
