Read More	THE FREMONT COUNTY HERALD October 4, 1923 "Mary Ella Van Eaton" -- Mary Ella Van Eaton was born on April 7, 1853 near Crawfordville, Indiana and died at Sidney, Iowa the morning of September 26, 1923. She was the daughter of Thomas and Virginia Cloud. She grew to young womanhood in Indiana, coming to Iowa about 1872. She was converted and joined the M. E.church and on coming to Sidney united with this church by letter in 1874. Her faith in her Lord Jesus was vital and steady, upholding, comforting and strengthening her soul during sorrow and affliction. She was united in marriage to Mr. William Van Eaton, November 9, 1876. Three children were born to them: Mary Ella, Thomas and Roscoe. The daughter died early. The two sons reside in Sidney. Her husband, Mr. William Van Eaton preceded her in death on September 10, 1910. Mrs. Van Eaton has had very poor health for many years. During the spring and summer she has been much worse. Her friends could hardly understand how she stood the inroads of disease for so long. Her faith in her Savior was a great comfort to her. It is indeed sweet remembrance for children to know that mother's prayers followed them the whole world through, mother's love with all its drawing and holding power, God like in patience and sacrifice during our childhood days make us stand in awe. As the Christian mother goes home we weep, but realize that all is well and that it is better for her. The funeral services were held Thursday afternoon in the M. E. church, conducted by her pastor, Rev. D. B. E. Prather. The music was furnished by friends, Mr. and Mrs. Hodges, Mrs. DeVall, Mrs. Engelke, Mr. Chantry with Mrs. Samuels at the piano. The frail body that had become so weary by disease, was laid to rest in the Sidney cemetery.
