She was the daughter of Stephen and Caroline Brody. She was married to George Jenks Oct 10, 1865. To this union were born eleven children: Robert J of Lonely Lake, Manitoba; Laura A of Lake City, Susie Featherstone (Upstone), Mrs. Lawrence Williams of Chicago, Ill., Edward R. of Lavinia; Rose Brownell of Vancouver, B. C., Geo. W. of Faith, S. D., James F. of Brookings, S. D., Grover C. of Sioux Falls, S. D., Wm. D., of Lansing, Mich., and Fred C who died in 1905. Mrs. Jenks moved with her husband to Calhoun County in 1875 where with the exception of a few years, she has resided to the time of her death, which occurred Tuesday, May 27, 1930. She was 84 years and 28 days of age. She leaves to mourn her devoted husband, the ten children, 42 grandchildren, one sister, Mrs. Frank Bramhall of Mt. Auburn, Iowa; two brothers Hugh Brody of Wilcox, Mo., and Chas Brody of St. Joe, Mich and a large number of other relatives and friends. Mrs. Jenks was one of the brave pioneer women of the country and patiently bore the hardship of those early days of the pioneer life. Well known and well loved by a large circle of friends, she was a faithful wife, a loving mother devoted to her home and family, never failing in her duty to them. She was a very sunny disposition, always meeting her friends with a smile. She was and invalid for 19 years but her suffering was patiently borne. A good woman has gone to their reward, and will be greatly missed by family and friends alike. She loved her Master, and His Spirit was to her the guiding principle in patience, love and duty with which she was so abundantly blessed. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, May 30, at the Woodlawn Church of Christ by the Rev. A. B. Kern. Burial was in the Lake City cemetery.
