Read More	Hamburg Reporter Thursday Evening, November 27, 1924 Gone to Her Reward - - Following a lingering illness from which she realized that she could not recover, Mrs. S.T. Mitchell quietly passed away at her home on Thursday evening. All that loving hands and medical skill could do were done for Mrs. Mitchell, but her life closed, as quietly and peaceful as she had lived it. Mrs. Mitchell was a noble woman, and one whose whole life was wrapped up in her family, friends and those in need. Always active in church work, she exemplified her belief in work for those less fortunate than herself, and while her charity and helpfulness was never paraded, yet there are many who will testify to her many acts of kindness. Here is a life that will live on, and her influence will be felt in the community for years to come. Mary Ellen Kinney, daughter of John S. and Phoebe Kinney, was born in Farmersville, Mo., July 25, 1867, and departed this life at her late home in Hamburg, on November 20, 1924, age 57 years, 3 months and 26 days. She moved with her parents to Iowa and located in Hamburg in 1876. She was united in marriage to Dr. S.T. Mitchell in 1893 and to this union five children were born, two preceding the mother in death. Samuel Thomas III, Phoebe Mildred and Mary Katherine, with the husband are left to mourn her death. She leaves an aged father and mother and one brother, Dr. C.L. Kinney, of Clinton, Iowa, also two grandchildren and a large number of other relatives and friends. The deceased joined with the Presbyterian church in this place on January 1, 1887, and was an active member all her life. She was especially active in missionary and Sunday school work, and taught a class in the Sunday school most of her life. She leaves as a heritage to the town and community a beautiful christian character that will live on until time shall be no more. Funeral services were held in the Presbyterian church Sunday afternoon, conducted by her pastor, Rev. S.R. Overholser, assisted by the Rev. A.E. Kiser of Council Bluffs, former pastor and old friend of the family. Interment was made in the cemetery at Sidney by the side of other children, who had gone before.
