Mitchell, Former Resident, Dies Funeral services were held at 10:00 o'clock Monday morning at the Peterson-Mortuary in Nebraska City, for Mary Katherine Mitchell, who died of cancer at St. Mary's hospital Saturday after an illness of six weeks. Rev. John A Williams of the Presbyterian church was in charge and burial was in the Sidney, Iowa cemetery. Miss Mitchell, who formerly lived in Hamburg and taught several years there had made her home during the summer in Nebraska City for the past several years. A teacher in the Bisbee, Arizona schools, she was compelled to leave her work because of her recent illness. Her sister, Phebe, also made her home in Nebraska City in the summer until her death June 24, 1950. She was a teacher in the Dearborn, Mich. schools. Mis Mitchell was born in Hamburg, Iowa, September 15, 1902, the daughter of Mary Kinney and Samuel Mitchell. Surviving are a brother, S. Tom Mitchell, Redding, Ohio, and two nephews, Samuel T. Mitchell of Rapid City, S.D. and Sgt. John Mitchell, Sparks, Nevada.
